Corporate Shooting Days in Scotland
Premium team building and client entertainment at Birkhill Castle Estate
Corporate hospitality and team-building events are often forgettable. An afternoon at a bowling alley, a paddling session on a canal, a generic “away day” that generates no real conversation and is forgotten by Monday morning. A shooting day at Birkhill Castle Estate is none of those things.
Here, your team or clients spend the day at a 1,500-acre private Scottish castle estate, on the banks of the Tay, with a third-generation gamekeeper who genuinely loves showing people what this landscape can do. There’s instruction, there’s competition, there’s the particular pleasure of doing something that requires real focus — and then there’s an excellent meal and a dram at the end of it.
People talk about it. It becomes a reference point. “That day at the castle in Fife” — you know the one.

The Setting Makes the Difference
You’re not in a muddy field with a temporary marquee. Birkhill Castle Estate is a working private estate of serious beauty — woodland, glens, a castle, and the Tay Estuary stretching to the horizon. It provides a setting that tells your clients something about the kind of company you are.

Tailored to Your Group
We don’t run off-the-shelf packages. Every corporate day is built around the size of your group, the experience levels involved, and what you want from the day. Options include:
- Half day shooting + dinner — arrive mid-morning, shoot for three hours, debrief over an evening meal
- Full simulated game day — the complete driven shoot experience across multiple drives, with breakfast and dinner
- Mixed programme — combine shooting with another estate activity (details on request)
- Competitive team format — split into teams with a scorecard, leaderboard, and prize presentation
We accommodate groups from 4 to 24 Guns. If your group is larger, please get in touch — we can discuss extended-day formats.
Why Shoot Rather Than Golf?
Birkhill Estate is 25 minutes from St Andrews — the home of golf. We’re not suggesting shooting instead of golf. We’re suggesting you consider shooting as well, or as an alternative for those in your group who don’t play. Shooting levels the field in a way that golf simply doesn’t: an absolute beginner can have a brilliant, competitive day alongside an experienced shot. The estate provides something St Andrews can’t — a private, exclusive environment where your group has the place to itself.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do participants need any prior shooting experience?
No. We design corporate days to work perfectly for mixed-ability groups. Beginners are given full instruction before the first stand, and George’s team ensures everyone is confident and safe throughout the day. Many of our best corporate days have been made by people who had never shot before.
How far in advance do I need to book?
We recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks ahead for corporate days, particularly for weekends and the summer months. For larger groups or specific date requirements, earlier is always better.
Can you accommodate dietary requirements?
Yes. Let us know at the time of booking about any dietary requirements, allergies, or preferences in your group and we’ll build the catering around them.
Is the day suitable for clients from outside Scotland?
Absolutely — in fact, many of our corporate days are booked specifically to bring clients from London, Edinburgh, or further afield to a venue that genuinely impresses. The estate setting, the food, and the experience make it a strong choice for client entertainment.
What about health and safety and insurance?
Elliott Clays carries full public liability insurance. All shooting activities are conducted under George’s supervision with a mandatory safety briefing. We have hosted groups from companies of all sizes and are happy to provide relevant documentation for your records.
